This course is designed to... help students become better readers, writers, and thinkers. To do so, we will continue to improve on their reading and writing strategies, building upon their studies at the middle school/junior high level. Students will explore the following concepts: writing, reading, speaking, listening, viewing, and visual expression as recursive and reinforcing processes.
Specifically, students will use texts to explore larger social issues. The major texts used for the course include To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, and The House on Mango Street while also including studies of short stories, poetry, and grammar / punctuation.
